WELCOME

The name http://www.penrithcity.nsw.gov.au/index.asp?id=422"St Marys/South Creek Registers" has been taken from the Births, Deaths & Marriages Registers of the St Marys Magdalene Anglican Church, Magdalene Street, St Marys, New South Wales, Australia.

This church has been in existence from the laying of the foundation stone on the 22nd November, 1837 by Bishop Broughton on land given to the township of "South Creek" (as it was known at that time) by Philip Parker King and built to a style similar to the King Family parish church "St Mary Magdalene" in Dunheved, England.

Over 139 years of burials, baptisms and marriages have taken place "in the little churchyard on the hill" and have been recorded and documented by me, Lyn Forde I have 7 generations of my family buried in the churchyard.

The church and churchyard has been in use for around 142 years - less over time because "God's little acre" has filled up totally over those years with the burials of some of the most prominent St Mary's citizens as well as those who came out in chains and those who passed through and also those who settled in the St Marys (South Creek) area.

I am currently the Vice-President of the St Marys & District Historical Society and you can also see me on the "Wall of Achievement" site of the Penrith City Council website.

This site is administered by Lyn Forde, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
